Waxing outdoor bronzes

I hot wax all the bronzes in our outdoor sculpture garden at Navarro gallery once a year.It protects the patina and finish on the bronze. I use a torch to get the metal hot and brush on Johnsons paste wax.

''10TH MOUNTAIN'' In honor of our veterans on Memorial Day.This bronze monumental sculpture is in honor of the the 10th Mountain division who fought in World War II in Italy and France. The 10th Mountain division was a unit that was formed in 1940 train as a winter strikeforce and mountain troops using 3000 members of the national ski patrol is its nucleus the men selected were trained in Leadville Colorado.

''DEPARTED SPIRITS''With this bronze sculpture I wanted to do a mystical composition. A native warrior horseback is ascending through the horn of a Buffalo bull's skull. The Plains Indian and American Buffalo lives were intertwined. When the great herds of buffalo became nonexistent the life of the Plains Indian and their way of life departed.

I designed the slide gate on the chute to support the horse in the air as years out of the chute in the cowboy marks him out.
