‘’LIGHTNING IN THE SKY THUNDER IN THE REIN’’

I try to tell a story with my art and I want to share some of the stories behind the sculptures I have created. chrisnavarro.com  ‘’LIGHTNING IN THE SKY THUNDER IN THE REIN’’ Bronze, 23” x 19” x 15”  A cowboy is out riding a young colt when it starts to rain. Just as he starts to puts his slicker on, a lightning bolt flashes across the sky and thunder rumbles, startling the colt and making him buck. Sculpting the three-dimensional horse and cowboy with a wall hanging relief of lightning was a challenge, but combining the two elements made for a more unique and interesting composition.

‘’DOUBLE RANK’’

New bronze bull riding sculpture ‘’DOUBLE RANK’’ H- 31’’ L- 22’’ W – 15’’ limited edition 24 Price $ 5000. won the Calgary Stampede bronze trophy competition. My sculpture, along with $100,000. will be presented to the champion bull rider for the next five years at the Calgary Stampede. Bull riding has always been a big passion in my life. I rode bulls for 5 years and my son JC rode bulls professionally in the PBR. The thing about bull riding is it is not if you are going to get hurt but when and how bad. Bull riders are gamblers and adrenalin junkies. The biggest problem with bull riding is if you want to play you have to use your health for chips. People who have never rode bulls ask. What is the reason for competing in such a dangerous sport? I tell them anytime you mix adrenalin with joy it becomes an addictive cocktail and you always want to come back for another taste. My very first bronze sculpture I made in 1980 was a bull rider’ ’SPINNING AND WINNING’’. Champion Lane Frost a 15’ bull rider was my first public monument. Riding bulls and creating art are similar in nature. To give your very best you must put your heart and soul into it.

‘’TURN AND BURN’’

‘’TURN AND BURN’’  H- 16 ½’’  L- 17’’  W 12 ½’’ EDITION 24  Price  $4800. Barrel racing pairs horse and rider in a race against the clock. Three barrels are set up in a cloverleaf pattern in the arena, and the rider must cleanly negotiate the pattern. A rodeo sport where the winner can be determined by thousandths of a second, the relationship between the rider and horse is crucial. The horse’s athleticism and mental condition and the rider’s horsemanship skills are tested as they maneuver through a clover leaf pattern at top speed.

MUSTANG PRIDE

I try to tell a story with my art and I want to share some of the stories behind the sculptures I have created. chrisnavarro.com  MUSTANG PRIDE 16’’ x 23’’ x 9’’ Monumental Bronze, 12’ x 9’ x 4’ The mustang has long been the symbol and mascot for Natrona County High School in Casper, Wyoming. As a tribute to the school, I created Mustang Pride, a wild mustang stallion rearing forward with mane and tail flying. This was a special monument to me, as my two children, JC and Natalie, along with my wife, Lynne, all graduated from NCHS. I was able to dedicate the bronze while my son and daughter were attending school there.
