It is important to remember every expert was a beginner at some time. So the most important thing to bring to this class is a hungry mind, the desire to sculpt and a positive attitude. We will study armature construction, anatomical proportion, composition, design and gesture. We will also look for that hidden spark that brings the essence of life into our own work. Working with oil base clay and using live models we will sculpt a male figure. On the last day of the workshop the class will be taken on a personal tour of ‘’EMBRACE THE STRUGGLE’’ The bronze art of Chris Navarro a one man show with over 50 bronze sculptures at the Nicolaysen Art Museum Casper WY.
Using live models will help us respond and interact more intensely with our subjects. You need to be inspired and excited by your subject to give the best that is within you. We will discuss many topics both the physical and mental challenges of being a sculptor, from creating monuments to working with foundries., the ins and outs of marketing and promoting your work, establishing relationships with galleries and everything in between. If what you create is real and if it’s done with genuine emotion there will always be others who will want to experience and relate to that power. Come to this workshop if you want to learn about sculpture be inspired to follow your passions. Because the most important things I have learned on this long road of discovery. Is that the journey is more important than the destination. Never let fears keep you from pursuing your dreams and do not let what you can’t do keep you from doing what you can do.
